For SMBs, Microsoft 365 comes in three Business plans. They work like a staircase: each step adds something to the previous one.

The three-step staircase

  • Business Basic: email, Teams, online storage and Office web apps.
  • Business Standard: adds the Office apps installed on the desktop.
  • Business Premium: adds advanced security, access and data control, and protection against cyber threats.

How to talk about it

Start with the security question. A customer who only uses email can move to Standard with email protection, or straight to Business Premium if data and devices need to be protected.

A cap to know about

Business plans are limited by Microsoft to a certain number of users (300 at the time of writing). Beyond that, customers need Enterprise plans.

Microsoft also offers a questionnaire to help each company find the plan that fits its profile.
